Mine

Mine

directed by:

HSU, HWA-CHIN, CHIOU, JING-FEN

"The animated film “Mine” describes the pigheadedness of a horror lover, whose love is deteriorated by the erosion of her possessive desire. While the land becomes the symbol of body parts, the female protagonist Cathy occupies her territory with flags, which metaphorically implies the possession of her lover’s body and soul. Each flag represents a mark of love bite, which is the gesture of claiming territory. In the film, Cathy encounters a woman whom she sees as a foe. To her, her boyfriend must only belong to her. Thus, friends, relatives, and occupations all pose possible threats to stealing away her boyfriend and causes her to overreact. Finally, she has complete control over her boyfriend. The use and application of bright colors and stop-motion animation is intended to relieve the repression of the story.
