"Delirium and veneration, pleasure and pain, the addiction to emotion, flourishes and fiction. The obsession with this beginning of a relationship makes us surrender to our partner with immense vulnerability and insecurity while simultaneously signaling a sense of mistrust and apprehension. These are concerns that show up not only in Rita Figueiredo's lyrics, and in Benji Kaplan's melody, but in the duo's interpretation, with repetitive, lascivious and intense musical expression.
In “Impetuosa Atação”, the duo's latest song, the singular voice of Rita Figueiredo, from São Paulo, who unites her classical training with her popular voice technique, appears in burlesque and theatrical tones. And New Yorker Benji Kaplan, in addition to his sophisticated guitar, is also featured in the track as a singer with Rita, portraying the musical synergy that unites them.
The track was recorded, mixed and produced by Julie Last at Coldbrook Productions in Woodstock, New York. Julie is one of the few women who has earned her place in the control rooms of major recording studios. She has worked with the likes of John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Aerosmith, Talking Heads, Cheap Trick, Lou Reed, The Clash, Brian Eno, Michael Jackson and Joni Mitchell just to name a few.
Rita Figueiredo, in addition to being the lyricist and vocalist on this project, was also the creative director of this video, contributing all of the drawings and animation. Benji Kaplan acted as musical director, arranger, co producer, composer and vocalist/guitarist."
